What Happens After You Get in Touch
We read every enquiry ourselves. Here is the sequence, so you know what to expect:
- We reply and ask a few questions — usually about the lot, the existing garage or basement, and who the unit is for. This is so the first visit is genuinely useful rather than a sales call.
- We arrange a walkthrough — at the property, at a time that suits you.
- We give you an honest read — what the site will support, which ADU type makes sense, and anything that would make the project harder or more expensive than you might expect.
- We follow up with a project-specific estimate — based on your property rather than an average per-square-foot figure.
There is no obligation at any point, and no pressure to commit before you know what is realistic on your lot. If we think your project is not a good fit for us, we will say so.
Useful Things to Include
You do not need any of this to get in touch, but if you have it to hand it speeds things up considerably:
- The property address, or at least the city — conditions differ a lot between the Bountiful bench and the flatter west side
- Roughly what you want the unit to do — space for family, a guest suite, a home office, or a long-term rental
- Whether you are thinking about a detached build, a garage conversion, a basement conversion, or you are not sure yet
- A few photos — the backyard, the garage inside and out, or the basement space
- Whether you already have drawings, or are starting from an idea

Before You Get in Touch
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The initial conversation and the walkthrough of your property are free and carry no obligation. We would rather spend an hour telling you honestly what your lot will support than have you commit to a project that was never going to work the way you pictured it.
How quickly will I hear back?
We aim to respond to every enquiry promptly. If your message arrives over a weekend or a holiday it may take a little longer. If it is time-sensitive, say so in the message and we will prioritise it.
Do you give estimates over the phone or by email?
Not firm ones. We can talk through rough scope and give you a sense of what is involved, but a real estimate depends on grade, access, utility distance and the condition of any existing structure. Quoting a firm figure off a description tends to produce a number that changes later, which helps nobody.
What if my property is outside your usual area?
Ask anyway. The service areas page lists where we work regularly, and there are properties just outside it we would still look at depending on the project. We would rather tell you honestly than have you assume one way or the other.
Can I get advice on whether an ADU is even worth it?
That is a fair question to bring to a walkthrough. Whether an ADU makes sense depends on what you want it for, what your property allows, and what the alternative uses of that money and space are. We are happy to talk it through, including the cases where the answer is no.
